SAP has released an open source project called "Gardener", which allows Kubernetes clusters to be managed on multiple platforms. SAP has been working on the project since mid-2017 and hopes that more developers will attracted through the release of the software.

Gardener itself is a service running on Kubernetes. The clusters can be managed with Kubectl, but Gardener also offers a web-based dashboard for a better overview. Gardener currently supports AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and OpenStack. To install Kubernetes on these platforms, the Gardener team offers a Terraform-based tool called Kubify.

Gardener implements the automated management and operation of Kubernetes clusters as a service and aims to support that service on multiple Cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure, OpenStack).
